Course Structure
This Level 1 course consists of six comprehensive modules, each designed to build upon the previous one. Upon completion, you will be well-prepared to progress to Level 2 and Level 3 of the Excel Intermediate Analysis programme.

Study Recommendations
- Set a Study Schedule —Allocate regular time blocks for your studies. We recommend 2-3 hours per session, with 2-3 sessions per week for optimal retention.
- Practical Practice —Excel is a practical skill – you must practice what you learn. Have Excel open while studying and work through each example.

Technical Requirements
To complete this course, you will need access to Microsoft Excel 2016 or later (Excel 365 recommended). While many features work similarly across versions, some functions may differ slightly. This course is designed around the Excel 365 interface, but notes are provided where older versions differ significantly.
Learning Outcomes and Assessment
This course is aligned with the South African National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and specifically references Unit Standard 258879 (Work with Spreadsheets) at NQF Level 3, registered on the SAQA database. The skills developed in this course contribute towards competency development as recognised under the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998.

Assessment Approach
As a self-study course, assessment is conducted through:
- Practical exercises embedded throughout each module
- Self-assessment questions at the end of each module
- Comprehensive case studies requiring integration of multiple skills
- A final portfolio of evidence comprising completed exercises
For learners registered through a SETA-accredited provider, formal assessment may be arranged separately. This course material provides the foundational knowledge required for such assessments.
