Welcome to Level 2

Welcome to the Level 2 Intermediate Course on Understanding the Employment Equity Act. This course builds on the foundational knowledge you gained in Level 1 and takes you deeper into the regulatory framework, statutory requirements, and the practical implications of the Act for both employers and employees.

By the end of Level 2, you will have a thorough understanding of the amendments made to the Act, the detailed requirements of the Employment Equity Regulations, 2025, the 5-year sectoral numerical targets, equal pay provisions, consultation requirements, income differentials, enforcement mechanisms, and the compliance certificate system. You will also work through practical case studies that illustrate how the Act operates in real workplace scenarios.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyse the Employment Equity Amendment Act, 2013 (Act 47 of 2013) and explain its key changes to the original Act.
  • Analyse the Employment Equity Amendment Act, 2022 (Act 4 of 2022) and explain the introduction of sectoral targets and compliance certificates.
  • Compare the Employment Equity Regulations, 2025 with the 2014 Regulations and identify all significant changes.
  • Explain the 5-year sectoral numerical targets and how they apply to designated employers.
  • Apply the principle of equal pay for work of equal value in practical scenarios.

Prerequisites

This Level 2 course assumes that you have completed Level 1 or have equivalent knowledge of the Employment Equity Act. You should be familiar with the definition of designated groups, designated employers, the structure of the Act, and the purpose of the various EE forms (EEA1 to EEA17). If you are not confident in these areas, we recommend reviewing Level 1 before proceeding.
